Cheers & Tiers
Season 1, Episode 2, March 15, 2025
AIGA was a huge part of my life and career for 30 years. I’m so grateful that Rachel and Erik — two people I met through the org — initiated this podcast to capture all the stories, the tales, the cheers, and the tiers of our time in this community. In this episode I trace the path of my AIGA origins through to a few career highlights. Worth a watch and/or a listen!
Pixelated Path
Season 1, Episode 2, July 29, 2024
It was such a pleasure chatting with Chris Abad about all the things! My business partner and bestie of 38 years, Billie Mandel, and I talk about how we met, our entrepreneurial beginnings and businesses, and so, so much more. Special thanks to Randy for the referral :)
Who Colonized Design?
Episode 5, April 12, 2021
Three students of the MDes in Interaction Design — Larika, Shivani, and Maxime — collaborated on this podcast and launched with five episodes. I’m a guest on Episode 1, going on (and on) about my initial impressions and very early ideas for decolonizing and re-considering the MDes curriculum. Here on Episode 5, we talk about what defines being an expert, challenging the status quo, managing debt and doubt, and more.
36 Point
Episode 188, June 26, 2018
While Donovan Beery and I were both at HOW Design Live, we got together the afternoon of day three of the conference – so I was particularly tired-sounding. Still, I cogently talked about the People Layer (from the inside out), the new top-level domains like .pizza and whether or not we’ll need to indicate they’re websites (pro-tip: we do), the pleasure of a cheap and delicious bánh mì because some things don’t change, and a lot more. Thanks, Donovan dot Beery!
Obsessed with Design
Episode 88, January 1, 2018
Josh Miles and I talk about food, starting two businesses, and what it’s like to be the first in the role of Producer in Product. We definitely could have continued talking about food.
Meet the Creatives
Episode 54, December 10, 2017
Rob Johnston and I had similar childhoods – he reminds me of me, and vice versa. We talk about my origin story, how I learned early professional practices, my path to Twitter, and the persistence of fundamentals.
